The bezel has some consistent wear around the edge that gives it a cool vintage vibe and the lume has all aged to an even pale yellow color adding to the overall charm. The watch was clearly worn and enjoyed and has a good, worn but well taken care of look to it. This specific watch comes from a collector who had the watch for over 30 years. Collectors gravitate towards these "straight line" examples like the watch we have here because they are not very common and mark a time in Omega's history when they started to add this text to the casebacks. Omega still decorates the Speedmaster casebacks in this way. Eventually Omega would change this to have a medallion in the center with the writing around that. These 145.022's originally didn't have any mention of the moon landing on the caseback and these would be known as "Pre-Moon." After the moon landing on JOmega changed the casebacks to say "FLIGHT QUALIFIED BY NASA FOR ALL MANNED SPACE MISSIONS THE FIRST WATCH WORN ON THE MOON." First this was written around the edge and in four straight lines in the center of the caseback. The speed scale on the matte ceramic bezel is also covered with this luminous coating. The 145.022-69 was the last reference to feature a stepped dial and the first to house the 861 movement. Replica Omega Speedmaster Dark Side of the Moon Vintage Black, the 44.25mm model stands out with its distinctive brown hands and scales, and the hands and scales are covered with a retro-style Super-LumiNova luminous coating. Omega debuted the reference 145.022-69 in circa 1969 and this specific reference was only produced until around 1971.

While much of the attention for Omega this week has been on the newly refreshed Seamaster 300 series, standing just behind that launch was another major dive-watch release, the Seamaster Diver 300M Black Black. As its name indicates, the new professional diver is a trendy, monochromatic take on the original black ceramic Seamaster Diver 300M first launched in 2018.

Runs a tad too fast, I know.Speedmaster 145.022-69 "Straight Writing" As you can see in the rest of the pictures I've posted, the watch came on a retroish Lizard strap which is really cool, but I figured I'll put my black Hadley-Roma Croc Grain strap on this new friend I think it worked pretty well, what do you think? I think these vintage Seamasters have some kind of magic about them. I know that this watch is "average" from its time, but nonetheless it was one of my holy grails and I still can't believe I got my hands on one so "easily". I was lucky and ended up with a watch in a good condition there's wear on the dial but it doesn't bother me at all, service history is unknown. I wind it every morning though experience has shown that it can go about a day and a half or a little more without any intervention. This watch is dated to around 1969/1970, the movement is Omega's Calibre 601 which is said to be very strong so far, knock on wood, it's keeping excellent time. The watch has since went through strict inspections in various forums and was found to be genuine the only quirk is that crown has no wear like the dial and the rest of the watch but that's about it. It was spotted randomly going through a vintage fair and was purchased for $200. So last week I got one of my "dream watches".
